One of the biggest problems with internet security is that you can end up blocking sites which employees may have a perfectly valid reason for visiting - 'breast' blocking cancer sites, for example.
iCognito's PureSight offers dynamic filtering with intelligent recognition, which should both increase the degree of protection and reduce the amount of invalid blocking. Going beyond context-based scanning, PureSight's filtering engine invokes proprietary neural networking algorithms to scan the content of sites.
PureSight is up and running immediately after the painless installation, with default blocking rules in place. Configuration is through the Business Command Centre (BCC), a well laid out GUI, which is browser-based for added usability.
There are four areas which PureSight addresses: users, policies, filters and settings, all of which are defined through the BCC.
Defining users and user groups is extremely easy through the BCC. As well as grouping users together, you can specify user names, individual user IP addresses or network subnets.
There are three types of filter. The engine filters use iCognito's content recognition software to spot sites that are banned. However, these are customizable: if there are 'adult' sites that your employees require access to, the URLs can be defined to allow surfing where necessary.
The bandwidth filters allow you to define the types of file that can or cannot be downloaded - audio, video, Flash, pictures and other file types, which you specify. Finally, custom filters allow you to define unlimited adding of specific URLs.
Policies are set via the policies window. These are groups of content or bandwidth filters which can then be assigned to user groups. There are five default policies, from 'permit all' to 'block all adult sites,' but also allowing scheduled access within particular timeframes.
Documentation is marvelous: even someone who has never used a PC before could install and configure PureSight, and given the power that this product provides, this is extraordinary.
PureSight is an amazing product. With intelligent content filtering and sophisticated bandwidth management, this is definitely worth considering.
