»The Financial Stability Industry Council has appointed its first executive director, Don Truslow (left), who has held leadership positions in finance, risk management and corporate banking. The FSIC promotes the interests of financial services firms before such government entities as the Federal Reserve and Congress. Truslow has been a member of the organization's Roundtable Council since 1999 and was former chief risk officer for Wachovia.

»HyTrust, provider of policy management and access control solutions for virtualization infrastructure, has named John De Santis chairman and CEO. He previously served as vice president of cloud services for VMware and, before that, as chairman and CEO of TriCipher, now owned by VMware. Eric Chiu remains as president of HyTrust.

»Corero, an IT security supplier, has acquired Top Layer Networks, maker of intrusion prevention systems and distributed denial-of-service protection solutions, for $15.3 million. Corero is focused on acquiring network security companies and delivering offerings to customers through international channels.

»André DiMino, co-founder and director of the volunteer Shadowserver Foundation, has resigned. DiMino, in a farewell blog post, wrote that “increasing administrative challenges and issues to the point where I am no longer deriving personal fulfillment” were the main reason for his departure. Shadowserver is an intelligence gathering organization that specializes in botnet research.

»Law firm Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher has launched an Information Technology and Data Privacy Practice Group. The group was created to help the firm align its efforts for helping clients with litigation, investigations and compliance around privacy and security.

»Cloud security vendor Zscaler has appointed Patrick Foxhoven (right) as vice president of cloud operations. He is charged with the ongoing operations and management of the company's global cloud infrastructure. Previously, Foxhoven was chief information officer and a co-founder of managed services provider CentraComm, where he led development of the company's technology and product initiatives.

»Comodo, an internet security provider, has acquired DNS.com, a managed domain name system (DNS) services provider. Former CEO of DNS.com, Dan Kimball, has joined Comodo and is charged with development of the next generation of DNS services. The acquisition allows Comodo to roll out secured DNS and improved management and flow of internet traffic to the company's business customers.

»GlobalSign, a global provider of digital certificates, has begun offering the HackAlert monitoring solution from partner Armorize Technologies. The anti-malware service identifies drive-by downloads and issues alarms for zero-day threats hidden in websites. The HackAlert monitoring service will come packaged in GlobalSign SSL certificates at no extra cost and also be available as a standalone tool for enterprises desiring non-SSL monitoring.
