FireEye to acquire network forensics firm nPulse Technologies

FireEye has entered into an agreement to acquire nPulse Technologies, a Charlottesville, Va.-based network forensics firm.

On Tuesday, Milpitas, Calif.-based FireEye, a global network security company, announced the deal.

Under the terms of the agreement, FireEye expects to integrate nPulse's network forensics solutions with its security platform to deliver its customers “visibility into the entire attack life cycle – from network intrusion to endpoint exploitation and lateral movement,” a FireEye press release said.

The deal is expected to close during the second quarter of this year.

In a Tuesday article, tech news site Re/code reported that FireEye would pay $70 million in cash and stock for nPulse. This latest agreement follows FireEye's December 2013 acquisition of Mandiant, an incident response and forensic firm in Alexandria, Va.

FireEye purchased Mandiant for just over $1 billion in cash and stock.
