Gaza resident pleads guilty to hacking IDF drones

An Israeli court accepted a guilty plea from Maagad Ben Juwad Oydeh for hacking into Israeli Defense Force drones as they flew reconnaissance missions over Gaza.

The plea was accepted by the Beersheba District Court based on charges filed in a March 2016 indictment that also included hacking the local police and transportation authority's video cameras allowing the terror group Islamic Jihad to view where civilians were congregating and where police were located, according to the Jerusalem Post.

The drone hack allowed Islamic Jihad commanders to view the aircraft's video feed in realtime as the flew over Gaza, the Post said.

The indictment also stated Oydeh hacked into Ben Gurion Airport allowing him to view passenger lists on incoming and outgoing flights, type of plane along with landing and departure times.

He faces up to nine years in jail.
