Global Payments says breach will cost $85 million

Breached payment processor Global Payments announced Thursday that it has completed its investigation into the incident, and determined the clean-up and response will cost $84.4 million. The Atlanta-based company revealed in March that its systems were raided of no more than 1.5 million credit and debit card numbers. "This charge includes an estimate of charges from the card brands and investigation and remediation expenses," a statement said. "A qualified security assessor is conducting the independent review required to return the company to the lists of PCI compliant service providers."
