Guilty pleas were entered by two men in federal court in Newark, N.J. on Thursday for a range of computer fraud charges, according to Reuters.
Their hacking and spamming operation is said to have netted $2 million in ill-gotten gains.
Tomasz Chmielarz and Devin McArthur pleaded guilty to various fraud charges. The two were arrested in December, along with Timothy Livingston, for their alleged roles in various hacking and illegal spamming operations.
The charges state that Livingston, owner of a spam company, hired Chmielarz to write computer programs that blast out spam that disguises its sender and evades spam filters.
Chmielarz, prosecutors said, admitted that along with Livingston he hacked into email accounts and gained control of corporate mail servers.
The three are also alleged to have collaborated in stealing the personal information of as many as 60 million Americans.
Livingston has pleaded not guilty. His court date is Oct. 13.
