Health and Human Services CIO will be stepping down

Frank Baitman, chief information officer of the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) is stepping down from his post at the end of November, according to Fedscoop.

"I have decided that it's time for me to move on from my role as HHS Chief Information Officer, and to pursue new professional challenges," Baitman said to his staff in an email obtained by FedScoop.

During his four years at HHS, Baitman led initiatives to improve IT operations such as moving email services to the cloud, launching a virtual desktop pilot, and consolidating systems across the enterprise, according to Fedscoop.

Baitman was one of the senior IT officials involved in the rollout of Healthcare.gov and publicly released emails to his colleagues show he expressed frustration with the site.

HHS has not responded to an SCMagazine.com inquiry on Baitman's interim replacement.
