Hershey Park investigates potential payment card breach

Pennsylvania-based Hershey Park is investigating a potential payment card breach.

In a statement emailed to SCMagazine.com on Wednesday the park said, “We have received reports from some of our guests that fraud charges appeared on their payment cards after they visited our property.”

The theme park is working with an external computer security firm to investigate its system for signs of an issue, the statement said, adding that the company has security measures in place to prevent unauthorized access to its network.

Citing sources at three financial institutions, technology journalist Brian Krebs reported on Wednesday that a pattern of fraudulent activity was detected on customer payment cards used at the park between March and May of this year. Krebs wrote that, according to the banks, cards were used at food and beverage outlets, ticketing stations and the Hershey Lodge.
