LCRA’s Dax Streater to discuss information sharing at RiskSec NY

Dax Streater, the manager of cybersecurity operations for the Lower Colorado River Authority (LCRA), will be participating in a panel entitled the “How-To's of Information Sharing” at RiskSec NY on May 2.

The day-long event, to be held at Convene in midtown Manhattan, is SC Media's new threat intelligence and risk management gathering for cybersecurity industry leaders.

Streater will be discussing the differences between information and intelligence, sources for each, and pros and cons of utilizing them in cybersecurity. 

The morning session will focus on specific recommendations on how to successfully share threat intelligence, ways to forge beneficial relationships with participating industry bodies, and key partnerships cybersecurity pros should have in place that can be helpful to you and your organization.

Streater is a seasoned cybersecurity professional. He manages operations of the LCRA's technical security systems. That involves overseeing security engineering services and network and endpoint technical security controls for internal and perimeter systems. He also provides threat monitoring and response for all of the enterprise's systems, and he evaluates and proposes technical solutions that ensure the confidentiality, integrity and availability of information. As well, Streater manages day-to-day activities for a team of security engineers and security analysts in a Cybersecurity Operations Center.

Donald Freese, former director of the National Cyber Investigative Joint Task Force, recently promoted to the FBI's Information Technology Branch, Enterprise Services and Risk Management, will be keynoting. Vicky Ames, director of information security at Marriott International, and Daniel Hoffman, former intelligence officer, will lead a session on "The Trump Effect on Information Security."
