Rising Star – Luda Lazar

Category: Rising Star

Name: Luda Lazar

Title: Security Research Engineer

Company: Imperva

Why nominated: Luda Lazar is one of Imperva's top security researchers. As such, she uses her wide technological skills in reverse engineering, coding and threat analysis to uncover new cyberattacks and design security solutions.

Profile: Lazar has been with Imperva since 2011, starting out in a junior QA position, where she planned and implemented tests on the Secure Sphere Remote Agent module on multiple platforms before moving up to her current role, where she handles static and dynamic analysis of malwares and ransomwares and phishing research, among other responsibilities.

Lazar first entered the cybersecurity field during her time with the Israeli Defense Force, where she became interested in cybersecurity after taking a beginners course in computer networking. In her work Lazar tried to place herself in the shoes of the attacker, believing that to best defend an organization one must understand the data and the way attackers think so it's possible to predict their next steps.

Lazar frequently writes and gives presentations on her work.

What colleagues say: “Luda is an excellent cyber researcher and mother of two young children. She emigrated from a foreign country and had to cope with language challenges and started in a junior level position on the QA team. Luda was able to impressively translate her ambition, her self-learning skills and her high-level of technical skills, to learn, improve, progress, and to succeed. I think if there's anyone fitting the rising star honor, Luda is the one.”
