»DigiCert, an online security provider based in Lindon, Utah, has promoted Chief Operating Officer Nicholas Hales (left) to CEO. Founder Ken Bretschneider will retain business strategy oversight with his appointment as executive chairman of the board. Hales, the company's COO since early 2010, has more than 15 years within the online security space. Previous to DigiCert, he was director and chief legal officer at Comodo, and CEO of USERTrust.
»Palo Alto, Calif.-based TIBCO Software has acquired LogLogic, a privately held company based in San Jose, Calif. that offers scalable log and security management platforms. The transaction was approved by the board of directors of each company, though additional terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
»Dino Dai Zovi and Dan Guido have taken positions as hackers-in-residence within the Computer Science and Engineering department of the Polytechnic Institute of New York University (NYU-Poly). The two co-founded New York-based Trail of Bits, an independent information security company, where Dai Zovi is CTO and Guido is CEO.
»Veracode, a Burlington, Mass.-based provider of application security solutions, has secured $30 million in funding, bringing its total raised capital to date to $78.5 million. The latest round of funding comes from Meritech Capital Partners and existing investors, Atlas Venture, .406 Ventures and StarVest Partners. The company, which has achieved more than 150 percent year-over-year growth, said its plans for this year include continued growth of its application security-as-a-service platform, geographic expansion and investments in security research to identify zero-day vulnerabilities.
»Mary Landesman (left) has joined San Francisco-based Cloudmark as senior security researcher. She is tracking new threats that are coming into the Cloudmark Global Threat Network, which includes mobile, social and traditional email messaging scams and attacks. She was previously senior security researcher for ScanSafe, part of Cisco, and has more than 20 years of experience in the security industry.
»BeyondTrust, a Carlsbad, Calif.-based provider of privilege delegation and authorization management solutions, has acquired eEye Digital Security, an Irvine, Calif.-based vulnerability management solution provider. BeyondTrust plans to integrate eEye's Retina CS Vulnerability Management and Analytics solutions with its PowerBroker family of products to deliver context-driven security and compliance solutions.
»The Health Information Trust Alliance (HITRUST), based in Frisco, Texas, has announced the launch of a center to assist the health care industry in fighting growing threats to cyber security. The aim of the new HITRUST Cybersecurity Incident Response and Coordination Center is to offer “crucial support” for the health care industry. In addition, the center will make available cyber threat information to the broader industry. The center is working with 14 leading industry organizations, representing health plans and health systems, and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services to share various incident information. The center will collaborate with HITRUST and others to identify and remediate incidents, and will also obtain and synthesize cyber threat and response information from numerous other sources to make the information more readily available to center participants.
»Salt Lake City, Utah-based LANDesk Software, a provider of systems lifecycle management, endpoint security and IT service management, has announced the acquisition of Managed Planet, an IT data analytics company based in Dallas. LANDesk previously licensed this technology as part of its LANDesk Data Analytics product. Financial terms were not disclosed. LANDesk will continue to sell its version of LANDesk Data Analytics as add-on options to its systems and security management products.
»Vienna, Va.-based VidSys, a provider of physical security information management (PSIM) software, and Houston-based BRS Labs, inventor of video surveillance behavioral recognition software, will work together to serve the transportation, critical infrastructure, law enforcement and public safety markets across the globe. VidSys PSIM software provides security personnel with real-time intelligence and procedures necessary to proactively resolve situations, and AISight, BRS Labs' behavioral recognition software for video surveillance, provides actionable intelligence and situational awareness.
»Appthority a San Francisco-based app security vendor, named “Most Innovative Company at RSA Conference 2012,” for its cloud-based Appthority Platform, which automatically identifies and grades risky behavior in mobile apps, has secured $6.25 million in a Series A financing round led by Venrock and US Venture Partners (USVP). Ray Rothrock and Steve Krausz, partners at Venrock and USVP respectively, will join Appthority's board of directors. Appthority will use the funding to fuel company growth and expand its footprint in San Francisco. Gunderson Dettmer also participated in the round.
