Target overhauls security and compliance group, CIO resigns

Battered in the aftermath of a high-profile data breach discovered in mid-December, Target Corp. has reorganized its security and compliance division and accepted the resignation of CIO Beth Jacob, according to the Associated Press.

In a statement, Target Chairman, President and CEO Gregg Steinhafel said in the first step in overhauling the Minneapolis-based company's information security and compliance structure and practices, the company will launch an external search for an interim CIO. “We will also be elevating the role of the Chief Information Security Officer and hiring externally,” Steinhafel said. The company will also conduct an external search for a Chief Compliance Officer.

In an internal memo published by Krebs, Target said the CISO and CCO, who will hold vice presidents titles, will report to the vice president of corporate security and be a part of Target's Law Pyramid.
