China, U.S. agree to work together on cyber security

China and the United States plan to erect a cyber security working group in light of continued worries over the former's alleged cyber espionage activities, according to reports.

U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry announced the decision Saturday while in Beijing, according to a Reuters report. Kerry and China Foreign Minister Wang Yi agreed the two countries must combine efforts to promote security.

Incident response and forensic firm Mandiant in February released a comprehensive report, which offered a fascinating close-up of the nuts and bolts of secret Chinese military unit 61398, believed to be behind the theft of hundreds of terabytes of information from 141 organizations primarily in the United States. Chinese officials shot back, denying the accusations, and saying the United States itself is major source of such attacks.
