Colorado firm claims ransomware attack behind closure

A Colorado printing company is claiming it was forced out of business after being hit with a severe cyberattack from which it could not recover.

A statement on Colorado Timberline’s website dated Sept. 12 states the company will immediately cease operations for an indefinite period after enduring several cyberattacks.

“We have recently been plagued by several IT events, unfortunately we were unable to overcome the most recent ransomware attack and as a result this unfortunate and difficult decision was made,” the statement said.

The Denver-based firm also sent this announcement to customers and suppliers. Colorado Timberline was acquired in 2017 by two private equity firms, Chicago-based Frontenac and Connecticut-based Charter Oak Equity, according to BusinessDen.com. Neither company now lists Colorado Timberline among their investments, but a Google search does indicate an association.

Emails sent by SC Media to obtain additional information from both firms have not been returned.
