Researchers played an April Fools' Day joke a little early on several attendees of this past RSA Conference when Authentic8 researchers found that 88 percent of cybersecurity professionals trust fictitious figures as much if not more than other industry experts.

Researchers conducted their “Cybersecurity Approval Poll” at RSA 2019, polling 294 professionals, and found 88 percent of respondents stated that they trusted the made-up Mr. Keyes, the face behind F.A.K.E. Security “much more,” “slightly more” or “about the same” as other cybersecurity vendors and experts.

The study also asked where organizations are most exposed and vulnerable to which 33.67 percent responded endpoint security, 33.33 percent responded data security, 30.61 percent responded application security, 27.55 percent said network security, and 22.45 percent said perimeter security.
