FBI mulling additional emails in Clinton probe, Comey tells lawmakers

After saying it would not pursue charges against Hillary Clinton for her handling of  sensitive email while using a private server, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) will review additional emails that have come to light during another investigation, FBI Director James Comey said to members of Congress Friday.

"In connection with an unrelated case, the FBI has learned of the existence of emails that appear pertinent to the investigation," Comey wrote in a letter to eight congressional committee  chairmen, CNN reported. "I am writing to inform you that the investigative team briefed me on this yesterday, and I agreed that the FBI should take appropriate investigative steps designed to allow investigators to review these emails to determine whether they contain classified information, as well as to assess their importance to our investigation."

Comey said he didn't know how long the review would last or the significance of new emails that have come to light.
