FBI to meet with Scott, DeSantis after Mueller report says Florida county’s election systems hacked by Russia

After Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s report revealed that Russian operatives hacked a Florida county’s election system, the FBI will meet with former Sen. Rick Scott, R-Fla., the former governor, and Gov. Ron DeSantis to review the findings.

In a letter to FBI Director Christopher Wray last week, Scott had requested - and was granted -  a briefing on the evidence, expected to occur in the next few weeks.

The Mueller report didn’t identify the county whose systems were affected, after Russian hackers sent spear phishing emails to about 120 Florida election officials’ email accounts, something DeSantis took issue with.

“They won’t tell us which county it was, are you kidding me?” he said at a Thursday press conference. “Why would you have not said something immediately?”

He pledged to make the information public, if possible.

“Unless somehow it is classified. I think the public has a right to know what may have happened,” he said.
