»Mike Convertino (left) has joined the Seattle-based security firm F5 as the new chief information security officer. Convertino will be responsible for leading the company's information security team, and his first priority is the continued protection of the company and customer assets and data. Covertino has nearly 30 years of experience in information security, cloud-grade information solutions and advanced cybercapability development. He was previously the CISO at CrowdStrike.

»KnowBe4, a Clearwater Fla.-based security awareness training and integrated phishing platform, has raised $8 million in Series A funding led by the venture capital fund Elephant. KnowBe4 has seen annual growth of more than 350 percent and consecutive growth for 10 straight quarters. The company's founder and CEO, Stu Sjouwerman, said the firm is going to use the funding to fuel expansion.

»Waltham, Mass.-based cloud security firm CloudLock is partnering up with San Francisco-based identity management firm OneLogin to provide integrated cloud access security brokers (CASB) and identity-as-a-service (IDaaS) security. The two firms will aggregate and correlate data indicative of suspicious behavior to detect and identify risks that may otherwise go undetected.

»Australian-based computer consultant firm Bulletproof is set to acquire New Zealand-based cloud service firm Cloud House for the equivalent of $649,400 (U.S.), plus up to the equivalent of $2.7 million (U.S.) payable based on performance. The acquisition will provide corporate, financial and marketing resources to Cloud House as well as extend its presence in the New Zealand market. Cloud House employees will also transition to Bulletproof. 

»Multinational technology and consulting corporation IBM has closed a deal to acquire The Weather Company's business to business, mobile and cloud-based web-properties, weather.com, Weather Underground, The Weather Company brand and WSI, its global business-to-business brand. The combined technological expertise of the two companies will serve as the foundation of the Watson IoT Cloud platform. The acquisition will also extend the scale and capability of IBM's cloud data services platform and expand The Weather Company's enterprise services capabilities and consumer reach.

»San Francisco-based software firm SourceClear has named Jim Morrisroe (left) as president. Morrisroe has 20 years of experience working in the technology industry. Morrisroe will be responsible for leading the firm's global sales, marketing and business development organizations. He will also join the company's board of directors. Morrisoe previously served as the CEO of Piston Cloud Computing.

»The Norwegian-based multinational telecommunications firm Telenor announced that it has acquired New York-based marketing technology firm Tapad for approximately $360 million (U.S.). The acquisition will improve the digital capabilities of Telenor and assist with advertising and marketing technology as well as strengthen its data analytics capability Telepad will operate as a standalone company.
