Former IT manager faces seven charges in federal indictment

An Illinois man is facing a seven count federal indictment for allegedly committing a cyber attack against his former employer. George N. Turner faces charges of illegal wire interceptions, computer fraud, and disclosing information obtained from illegal wire interceptions, according to a release.

As the information technology (IT) manager at the victim company for six years, Turner had access to its computer network and servers.

Not long after Turner left the company in March 2014, he allegedly began intercepting messages in two email accounts belonging to company executives. He's also accused of causing significant damage to the company's computer servers and sending classified financial information to third parties. The activity lasted between April and July of 2014.

Turner could face over a decade in prison and millions of dollars in fines if convicted.
