French telecom company’s customer information breached again

French telecoms corporation Orange said more than a million of its users' personal information was stolen last month in a phishing attack.

The attackers took control of a software platform Orange uses to send promotional emails and texts to subscribers in order to steal telephone numbers, dates of birth and email addresses, according to Reuters. This is the company's second breach this year.

Victims were informed of the attack and no payment information was accessed.

In the previous attack, thieves stole similar data, in addition to detailed account information, such as household composition and the number of subscriptions held. Following that breach, the company warned customers of possible phishing attacks.
