Hackers for Harambe? Zoo official’s twitter hacked for slain gorilla

In the name of a slain gorilla, hacktivists linked to Poodlecorp, a cybergang which also launched attacks against the Pokemon Go website and the Cincinnati Zoo website, appear to have targeted the twitter account of Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden director Thane Maynard.

Late Saturday night, the hacktivists reportedly sent several tweets, which have since been deleted, from Maynard's twitter account using popular hashtags referencing Harambe, the endangered gorilla that was killed this summer to protect a child that climbed into the primate's enclosure, according to the Cincinnati Enquirer.

The account's profile picture was also changed to a picture of the fallen gorilla.

One of the tweets took credit for the hack and attributed the attack to the account @prom. When the publication asked for the reasoning behind the attack, the owner of the account told the publication, "not sure, thought it would be funny I guess."
