The Health Information Trust Alliance (HITRUST) will develop a working group, which will focus on improving the security of health information technology, such as systems in use at health care entities and medical devices.
HITRUST helped create the Common Security Framework for protecting personal health and financial data, and has led cyber attack exercises for health care companies, dubbed “CyberRX." With the establishment of its new working group, the organization plans to pinpoint and mitigate vulnerabilities in health information systems and devices, a release from HITRUST said.
The working group will also develop a framework to facilitate vulnerability awareness, as well as establish guidelines and best practices for health care entities.
Steering committee members for the working group, include HITRUST CEO Daniel Nutkis, Texas Health Services Authority CEO Tony Gilman, and Philips Healthcare Vice President of Industry Relations Sara Coulter.
