Forty thousand employyes at the Kentucky Governor's Office for Technology are benefit from a content filtering anti-virus solution provided by two firms.
IT staff from the Kentucky state government will deploy the system, provided by security firms CyberGuard and Network Appliance, to go live in 90 days.
"Organizations today are finding it necessary to deploy as many as a dozen software packages to deal with internet-related network threats," said Gary Taggart, senior vice president of sales and general manager of CyberGuard's Webwasher division. "Technology officials in the Kentucky Governor's office recognized that an integrated architecture addresses these issues efficiently and cost-effectively."
A spokesman from CyberGuard said that a key factor for the government was having an all-in-one anti-spam, anti-virus and content blocking solutions to lower total cost of ownership.
"The combination of the appliances provides customers a solution to improve network speed and security," said David Kresse, senior director and general manager of the Content Delivery Business Unit at Network Appliance. "With the joint solution, internet usage can be easily managed, while non-business-related and security-risk content is filtered out."
The firms merged CyberGuard's Webwasher Content Security Management suite with the NetApp NetCache Web delivery appliances.
