Malwarebytes forum hacked, users forced to change passwords

The Malwarebytes.org user forum was apparently hacked on Nov. 10, prompting the company to force members to reset their passwords, according to message sent by company CEO Marcin Kleczynski to members.

While noting that there was “no evidence of any personal data being stolen” and assuring members that the company does not store personal information on its site, Kleczynski wrote that a vulnerability in software allowed hackers to get into a server running the forum.

He informed them that on the next attempt to log in, they would be faced with the “Reset Your Password” prompt.

The company migrated traffic away from its on servers and onto an Invision Power Board service so that as “vulnerabilities are discovered, they can patch them more quickly,” Kleczynski wrote, adding an apology for “the inconvenience.”
