Karen Worstell, Microsoft’s chief information security officer (CISO), will be speaking in place of Rich Kaplan, the company’s corporate vice president of Security Business and Technology Unit, at May’s SC Forum.
As Microsoft’s CISO post, she leads policy development and deployment, IT governance, system security analysis and engineering, assessment and compliance, investigations, and the Security Center of Excellence. Overall, she is charged with securing the softwaregiant’s worldwide information assets.
She joined Microsoft in early 2005 from AT&T Wirless/Cingular, where she was vice president of IT Risk Management and CISO. Her approximate 20 years of IT security experience spans both the private and public sectors.
She will be speaking about the industry-wide challenges organizations face in dealing with an evolving threat landscape and provide her perspective on the state of security today,the importance of continued innovation, and, given the company’s ubiquity, Microsoft’s advances in its products and technologies.
The SC Forum takes place May 18 – 20 at Chauteau Elan in Braselton, GA.
