New program looks to tackle the industry’s talent shortage

As a response to the growing cyber security talent gap, global IT nonprofit ISACA has announced a new certification initiative to address what many consider a skills crisis.

The new initiative, called the Cybersecurity Nexus (CSX) program, will provide organizations and security practitioners with resources that include research, education and certification, as well as networking capabilities, according to a release by ISACA.

CSX was developed by the nonprofit with heavy collaboration from other chief information security officers and experts in the industry. The program was announced at ISACA's North America CACS conference. Information security professionals are in high demand, both in the public and private sector.

The Pentagon recently announced that it is hoping to triple its security workforce by 2016. However, studies have indicated that up and coming professionals aren't encouraged to fill the industry demand.
