Report: Banks, again, link credit card fraud to White Lodging hotels

White Lodging Services Corporation confirmed last year that a point-of-sale compromise affected customer card data at its hotels – and now, in a suspected second breach, new reports of fraud have been linked to cards used at its properties.

On Tuesday, security journalist Brian Krebs, who also uncovered the 2014 breach, revealed that “multiple financial institutions are complaining of fraud on customer credit and debit cards,” specifically used at White Lodging-managed Marriott properties.

Despite the claims, White Lodging said it has seen no evidence yet of a new breach through its investigations, Krebs reported.

Last February, White Lodging told customers that a POS compromise affected 14 hotels throughout several states. And new reports of fraud suggest that card data was stolen from some of the same hotels impacted last year, including those in Austin,Texas, Bedford Park, Ill., Louisville, Ky., Denver and Indianapolis, Krebs found.
