A robust underground marketplace for the sale of stolen products from compromised accounts as well as shady online services has been detected in Russia, according to the International Business Times (IBT).
The online hub, Deer.io, is said to be hosting more than 1,000 vendors offering everything a cybercriminal needs – including, according to the site, "anonymity and security, payment handling, website design and distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) protection." Its tagline is: "The right choice to create your online store."
One vendor on the site is: "Selling accounts vk.com at the lowest prices!" Another, darkside.global, is an online shop suspected of belonging to Tessa88, a hacker blamed for attacks on a number of social networking sites, including LinkedIn and MySpace.
Deer.io has reportedly been detected advertising its services on known criminal forums.
For a monthly fee of around $8, subscribers are offered a number of online services and product development. "Selling digital goods with us is always profitable and comfortable!," it states on the site.
However, Digital Shadows, a San Francisco-based cybersituational awareness firm, detected that the majority of offerings on Deer.io were cybercrime-related products, including bot-registered social media accounts (used to market spam) and accounts purloined from social media and other platforms, among other items.
The site is indicative of the lowering of the barriers of entry for cybercriminals, the IBT stated.
