Sears finds no indication of a breach

Sears Holding Corporation has yet to find any indication of a possible data breach on its systems.

According to a statement emailed to SCMagazine.com by Howard Riefs, director of corporate communications at Sears Holdings, the company has launched an investigation into the “rumors and reports” surrounding a possible security breach.

“There have been rumors and reports throughout the retail industry of security incidents at various retailers, and we are actively reviewing our systems to determine if we have been a victim of a breach,” Riefs wrote. “We have found no information based on our review of our systems to date indicating a breach.”

With 2,500 stores in the U.S. and Canada, the department chain's announcement follows a string of retail breaches that have taken place at Target, Neiman Marcus, and most recently, Michaels.
