UK web filtering firm SurfControl has acquired anti-spam company Messagesoft for an estimated $14.7m.
The deal will give SurfControl ownership of US based Messagesoft’s Chinese sales and Linux appliance technology. SurfControl will pay $9.69 million in cash up front and pay the rest by the end of the year.
SurfControl said it hopes to accelerate its global distribution and add beef up its range of security products.
“The secure content market is evolving and presenting us with new opportunities for growth,” said Steve Purdham CEO and co-founder of SurfControl. “This acquisition, together will form the foundation stones for our next level of growth.”
