Survey reveals CISOs’ patching headaches

Patch management is the leading concern for federal CISOs, according to a survey by Intelligent Decisions, a Washington, D.C.-based systems integrator.

"It's indicative of bigger problems – not having enough budget, unclear messages from vendors, and not having staff to support rollout of a solution," said Ted Ritter, the firm's director of cybersecurity.

Not surprisingly, when asked what they would like to see from the private sector, the respondents' top request was for increased software quality assurance.

The survey also showed that federal CISOs spend 45 percent of their time on administrative tasks for Federal Information Security Management Act compliance.
