Twitch resets passwords following possible breach

Video game streaming platform Twitch – which is owned by Amazon – announced on Monday that unauthorized access may have been gained to some user account information.

The information that may have been accessed includes usernames, associated email addresses, cryptographically protected passwords and last IP addresses logged in from, according to an email sent to users, which was included in various reports. If provided, names, addresses, phone numbers and dates of birth may also have been impacted.

Twitch has expired passwords and stream keys, has disconnected accounts from Twitter and YouTube, and is requiring users to create new passwords, according to a post.

A Twitch spokesperson would not provide additional information outside the notification, but told SCMagazine.com in a Tuesday email correspondence, “Twitch runs on its own Infrastructure. ‏There was no impact to Amazon.com or [Amazon Web Services (AWS)].”
