UK cosmetic surgery group extorted by hacker that stole data on 500K

Individuals that submitted inquiries on the Harley Medical Group (HMG) website may have had their personal information stolen by an attacker that hoped to extort the UK-based cosmetic surgery company for money.

Nearly 500,000 individuals were impacted, according to various reports. A notification letter written by Peter Boddy, HMG chairman, indicates that the compromised information included names, addresses, dates of birth, telephone numbers, and email addresses submitted with regard to a particular inquiry.

Clinical and financial information is secure, according to the letter.

HMG has taken various actions as a result of the incident, including contacting the police and opening an investigation to find the perpetrator, as well as taking down the website while the proper fixes were implemented, Boddy wrote.
