Unknown malware leaks details of Japanese power plant

The sensitive security details of a Japanese power plant was leaked onto the internet earlier this month, the second time this year that the worksite’s information was leaked through file-sharing networks.

Unknown malware was blamed for the the leak , which included the locations of various portions of the Chubu Electric Power Co.’s thermal power plant in Owase, Mie Prefecture, and the home addresses and names of plant employees, according to a report in the Japan Times.

The location of the control and instrument panel rooms, boilers, and manuals on how to deal with intruders, were leaked to the internet through a file-sharing program called Share.

The data was released through the PC of an unnamed 40-year-old employee of the security firm employed at the power plant, according to the report.

Four months ago, the company announced that sensitive information was leaked via the Winny file-sharing program, according to published reports.
