Morning Consult, which conducts weekly polls among American voters, recently asked participants which technology issues should be the “top priority” for Congress – and cyber attack prevention gained 40 percent of votes.
The online poll (PDF) consisted of responses from 1,595 registered voters, which were collected between April 17 and April 20. While cyber attack prevention gained the most votes, 641, next in line was data security standards, which accounted for 300, or 19 percent of, votes. Ten percent of participants voted that surveillance reform should be of utmost importance to lawmakers on the technology front.
Breaking down the votes by gender, Morning Consult found that 39 percent of male voters (numbering 744 in total) thought cyber attack prevention should be a top technology priority for Congress, while 42 percent of female voters (numbering 851 in total) said the same.
