Yoran to keynote SC Forum

Amit Yoran, the U.S. federal government's most recent cyber security leader, is the main keynote speaker for SC Magazine's next IT Security Executive Forum.

Yoran, who is the former director of the Department of Homeland Security's (DHS) National Cyber Security Division, will discuss IT security trends and practices CSOs should pay close attention to in coming months. Giving his speech on the first night of the event, Yoran will also share his thoughts on the need to build in security from the ground up, as well as offer his views on how recent changes at DHS likely will affect public/private partnership goals.

Rich Kaplan, corporate vice president of Microsoft's Security & Business Unit, will be on hand to keynote the second night, discussing the industry-wide challenge of building trustin computing.

The SC Forum will be held May 18 - 20 at the Chauteau Elan in Braselton, GA.

Other speakers include:

- Gene Fredriksen, CSO and vice president of Technology Risk Management at Raymond James &Associates, who will share advice on building executive and board member support forIT security initiatives from the start;

- Marc Rogers, associate professor in the Computer Technology Department and Research Scientist a The Center for Education and Research in Information Assurance and Security (CERIAS) at Purdue University, who will detail the roles people play in the success of anysecurity initiative -- especially given the rise of socially-engineered attacks;

- Michael Rasmussen, prinicpal analyst for Forrester Research's Risk/Compliance Management division, who will advise attendees how to define information policies to control andmanage information -- from creation and distribution to retention and destruction;

- Kevin Mandia, president and founder of Red Cliff Consulting and former special agent withthe Air Force Office of Special Investigations (AFOSI), who will cover proper investigationtechniques to employ after a breach that also account for legal and regulatory complianceissues;

- Greg Bell, partner with KPMG's Risk Advisory Services, who will share tips on how they continually measure their security program's effectiveness after having received resources, funding and executive support.
