Hotel Beacon in New York City is notifying an undisclosed number of individuals that the security of its payment card processing systems was compromised by a third-party intruder.

All potentially impacted individuals are being notified, and offered a free year of credit monitoring and identity restoration services.
Details: Hotel Beacon confirmed the incident occurred on March 25. Guests who used their payment cards for lodging between Jan. 8 and March 25 may have been affected. There were 141 guests whose stay was not during the affected time frame, but they were impacted due to their information being stored by the hotel.
Quote: “Hotel Beacon has replaced the affected server and continues to monitor its payment card processing environment for any signs of unauthorized access,” a notification letter from last month said.
