Identity Finder DLP Suite 5
Strengths: Intuitive interface. Can be deployed as either an agent-based or agentless architecture.
Weaknesses: Limited to DLP, but should be worth a look for organizations wanting to add this capability to existing environments.
Verdict: Overall, a solid value for finding and managing sensitive data for both small and large organizations.
SummaryIdentity Finder DLP Suite is an endpoint software solution focused primarily on helping organizations manage data leakage across all endpoints. The solution supports client agents or centrally managed agentless environments. Client agents run on Windows and Mac operating systems. The backend management console runs on Windows 2003 with IIS and Microsoft SQL Server.
Deployment was fairly straightforward. The tool allows for some flexibility with regard to how agents are deployed and whether the client machines or administrators have control over how the protections are enforced and managed. Overall, data leakage is the main focus of the solution and is evident when the admin first opens the Identity Finder client application. The client user interface is very polished and reminds us of the Microsoft Office ribbon-based layout. Users or administrators can proactively search their computers and servers for various types of data using the AnyFind engine to develop remediation profiles. The client software is intuitive and has a lot of nice features for searching the enterprise for sensitive data.
Unfortunately, we couldn't find any local documentation within the Identity Finder client application. When we clicked on the help-file link, a separate browser popped up which connected back to the Identity Finder website.
Eight-hours-a-day/five-days-a-week phone, web and email support is included with the license. The Identity Finder website includes a knowledge base, customer support portal and FAQ.
