An interesting and versatile application.
Intuit Track-It! is a comprehensive suite of integrated modules which provide some interesting and useful functionality. The product is available in three flavours of Single User, Standard (facilitating multiple users) and Enterprise, and is nicely presented throughout with good documentation.
Single user and standard versions use MS Access for database support, while the Enterprise version supports SQL Server or Oracle databases. Pre-defined reports are offered throughout, although Standard and Enterprise versions also feature respective versions of Crystal Reports 9.0, (supplied to us on a separate CD), for those with more sophisticated reporting requirements.
The primary modules of Track-It provide for asset management, help desk support and purchasing – in keeping with the Track-It! concept. The value of the product might therefore depend on the extent to which you think you will use all this functionality.
The installation routines are well considered and the overall presentation of the product logical and attractive. The audit function worked well against the targeted machines, quickly returning comprehensive, accurate information.
Audits can be run remotely or scheduled via scripts, as expected. The pre-defined and custom reporting functionality complements the auditing function to provide a flexible and useful tool.
The help desk function is well thought-out, enabling user groups, automated email notification and other invaluable capabilities.
Similarly, the purchasing module enables the configuration of product types, vendors and templates to both simplify and track this process.
SMEs would benefit from this product's broad functionality within a single product, and the ability to closely tailor it to their own particular requirements.
