Juniper Networks divests mobile products for $250 million

Juniper Networks announced in its second quarter earnings report yesterday that it will be divesting its Junos Pulse mobile security products to a private equity firm for $250 million.

Siris Capital acquired the products, which are designed to bring SSL VPN connectivity, security and collaboration to various phone operating systems, according to Network World.

Juniper Networks announced in February an “integrated operating plan,” which will “refocus the company on innovation that matters most to service providers.” Reuters then reported in April that Junos Pulse was on the market.

The company intended to augment and support its Junos Pulse line when it purchased SMobile, a mobile security software company, for $70 million in 2010.

In its second quarter earnings report, Juniper noted that its sales reached more than $1.23 billion.
