McAfee products to be rebranded “Intel Security”

Intel, which acquired security firm McAfee in 2010, will now phase out the McAfee name for security products in favor of new branding: "Intel Security." Intel CEO Brian Krzanich announced the transition, which will take up to a year to complete, in January at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.

An Intel spokeswoman told SC Magazine that the company will retain McAfee's red shield logo. Software pioneer John McAfee founded his namesake anti-virus company in 1989, but eventually sold his stake in 1994.
