Microsft serve up more porridge for spammers

In a double-blow for the world of Texan student spammers Microsoft have filed a lawsuit against uber-spammer Ryan Pitylak.

Last week Texas Attorney General Greg Abbot announced he was taking Pitylak and his associate Mark Trotter to court under the Can-spam Act.

Pitylak and Trotter run a number of Nevada registered spamming outfits operating under the legal guises of Eastmark, Leadplex and Payperaction.

Microsoft's lawsuit was filed on Saturday in its native Seattle. The company claims it has been working for over a year with Texan authorities to prepare the action and will be suing Pitylak and Trotter under the Washington Commercial and Electronic Mail Act and the Washington Consumer Protection Act, as well as Can-spam.

Microsoft has become increasing litigious in recent years filing a number of lawsuits against individuals or bodies that harm them or their customers. In October last year it announced joint lawsuits against spammers in Virginia, Georgia and California, in which it cooperated with Yahoo, America Online and EarthLink.
