Microsoft fixes phishing filter in Internet Explorer 7

Microsoft has issued a fix for its new phishing filter, which made its debut in the recently released Internet Explorer 7 (IE7).

According to the software giant, a PC may respond slowly if the filter is validating a web page that contains too many frames, or if the user is browsing too many frames in a short period of time.

Redmond suggests users download an update from the Microsoft Download Center.

The phishing feature warns users about suspicious sites and blocks access to confirmed bogus sites. Confirmed malicious sites are placed on a blacklist that is updated several times each hour based on research from Microsoft and its partners.

Firefox 2.0, also released in October, contains a similar feature.
