Move over DHS, another alerting service on offer

About two weeks after the Department of Homeland Security recently announced an improved National Cyber Alert System, St. Bernard Software Inc. has unveiled free alerting services of its own to keep users up to date on the newest Microsoft-based security threats and patches.

"That's coincidental," says St. Bernard's Jeff Graham, product manager. "It's interesting because it's on a lot of people's minds in terms of how are [they] going to keep up-to-date with vulnerabilities and patches."

The free opt-in email service and patch database is being touted as a means by which IT departments worldwide can better protect their systems. In addition to these email services, St. Beranard has established a new web page that allows subscribers to view the status of the most recently announced patches added to its UpdateEXPERT patch management solution database.

The alerts are available to both customers and non-customers.

Instructions for the free subscription to the opt-in "Patch Update" email are available at https://www.stbernard.com/products/support/updateexpert/support_updateexpert-listserv.asp.
The Patch Update Web page can be accessed at https://www.stbernard.com/uepatches/.
