To help companies tackle threats inside their networks, Check Point has introduced what it is calling an internal security gateway. InterSpect offers network zone segmentation, worm and pre-emptive attack protections, LAN protocol security and more.
Primarily, the various features of the product have the goal of addressing evolving threats that manage to find their way into the network despite the various perimeter protections companies have come to rely on, said Gene Manyak, product marketing manager with Check Point.
Among its myriad features, the new solution aids in blocking the spread of worms inside the network by containing them to individual network segments or devices. It also prevents unauthorized access among differing network zones and protects against known and unknown attacks. Additionally, it aids in the patching process by giving administrators the option to isolate un-patched computers until holes are plugged.
Touted as installing in minutes and being easy to use and manage, InterSpect comes in various models: InterSpect 210 for individual workgroup protection at $9,000; InterSpect 410 for multiple workgroup protection at $18,000; and InterSpect 610/610F for gigabit network protection at $36,000 and $39,000 respectively.
