Highly Sensitive Documents Leaked Following Breach at Printing Company

By Marcos Colon

With more than 400 locations in 13 countries, PIP Printing’s leak was a result of a third-party IT firm leaving a “back door” open in the company’s system, according to a report by NBC News.

Security experts involved in the investigation told NBC News that they do not believe the documents were obtained by malicious actors. The information contained in the leaked documents range from emails that revealed credit card and Social Security numbers, to legal filings and medical records tied to high-profile athletes.

The company has addressed the source of the leak and have upgraded their security protocols. The breach was first discovered in October.
