Lights are on for security vendors

Security distributor equIP is opening a technical assistance centre to help its resellers and customers economize on support costs

Security distributor equIP is opening a technical assistance centre to help its resellers and customers economize on support costs.

Security vendors NetScreen, Bluesocket and Bluecoat are backing the centre, which will be manned 24/7 for 365 days a year by 12 qualified engineers.

“This is a ‘lights on’ operation, which means there are people here through the night,” said Ian Morris, director of equIP. “Most vendors offer support, but distributors who offer 24/7 support often do so with a pager. They are typically US based, so we have set up this operation to front all of those services for our vendors here. The options are endless; you can get advice or an engineer at 3am on a Sunday.”

EquIP claims that the service will enable customers to stop paying twice for basic support services.
