LinkedIn and Gusto security chiefs talk about their roles as ‘social worker’

Cybersecurity leaders want a reputation overhaul from law enforcer, to social worker.

At least that's the perspective of Geoff Belknap, chief information security officer of LinkedIn, and Frederick “Flee” Lee, chief security officer at Gusto. The two trade notes on the increasingly complicated role of security teams during the Sept. 16 panel, The Resilient Enterprise: 2021 and Beyond at RiskSec DIGITAL 2020.

Belknap leads security for LinkedIn, the social media platform that touts 706 million registered members in 150 countries since 2002. Lee is the security chief for Gusto, which provides cloud-based payroll, benefits, and human resource management to 100,000 businesses nationwide.

SC Media Editor in Chief Jill Aitoro steers the wide-ranging conversation about the state of the threat to organizations today, and what the cybersecurity community needs to consider amid a changing world.
