What happened? The personal information of 1,200 employees and retirees was posted on the city’s website on May 22.

What was the response? The data was taken off the website on June 4 after an employee notified the human resources department. City manager Kimball Payne sent a letter to affected employees.

Details: The data was intended for vendors responding to requests for prescriptions.

Quote: “There had been very few ‘hits’ on the page containing the information, so we believe that the chance of someone illegally using this information is very small,” Lynchburg Human Resources Director Margaret Schmitt said in a news release.
