A security expert has developed a free tool designed to detect if systems have been infected by spyware controlled by the National Security Agency (NSA).

Following last week’s high-profile leak of cyberweapons believed to be leveraged by the NSA, Luke Jennings, an expert with security firm Countercept, produced the script that detects the Doublepulsar code implant, which can be delivered through the Windows-based exploits featured the leak, according to CSO Online.

Security researchers have already tapped into the script to scan the internet for infected machines, with results ranging from 30,000 to 100,000 computers featuring the code. Additional results point to the U.S. being the country with the most infections at 11,000.

The script is available for download, free of charge, on GitHub.
